This year has been like no other with so many families feeling loss and bereavement. In normal times, our special ‘Lake of Lights’ event is held during the festive period, bringing people together to remember loved ones who have died.
The ongoing effects of COVID-19 mean that we are sadly unable to hold the event this year. Instead, we held an online (digital) in-memory service where we lit candles in memory of loved ones from the warmth and comfort of our own homes.
The service, led by our Spiritual Care Chaplain, is open to anyone who would like to remember a loved one, and not just those cared for by Rowans Hospice. It includes music from local choirs, poetry and readings, as well as a Lantern Procession by our Hospice Nurses, who lit our ‘Tree of Lights’ here at the Hospice.
If you were unable to join us, please watch the video below and take a moments reflection in memory of your loved ones no longer with us.
Our online ‘Tree of Memories’ is new for 2020 and is for families and friends who wish to make an online dedication to remember those who have died.
After such a difficult year for so many, we hope the opportunity to Light up A Life on our Tree of Memories will be both symbolic and comforting.
You can also choose to give a donation to help Rowans Hospice Charity continue to provide specialist care and therapeutic services for patients, families, carers and the bereaved, both at home and in the Hospice. Your support would mean so very much.
