This session will explain what hypnotherapy is and how it operates, before moving on to a practical session.
Starting off with a relaxation de-stress piece to get everyone comfortable, we will then focus more specifically on an aspect of resilience. This may include pain management. The session will then move on to teach the group several options for self hypnosis.
The session will finish with an opportunity for questions and information on how diverse and useful hynotherapy is in the hospice environment. Patients are treated as an individual, the treatment is geared around them, who they are and the sort of person that they are.
About your session leader: Kerrie Ballantyne
Kerrie has been volunteering as a hypnotherapist at Rowans Living Well Centre for two years. She trained at the London College of Clinical Hypnosis in conjunction with the University of West London for a number of years and since then has been running her own practice.
In recent years she has found the work at the Living Well Centre so fulfilling that supporting those with life-limiting illnesses and their carers and for those who are bereaved has become her main area of focus.
In addition to supporting the visitors to Rowans Living Well Centre, Kerrie also helped some of the staff to prepare for a charity abseil down the Emirates Spinnaker Tower, overcoming their fear of heights.
